SAMUT PRAKAN -- An elderly woman was killed after being run over by a pick-up truck which was moving backward from a soi in Muang district on Saturday night, police said. Pol Capt Non Thongphaeng, a duty officer at Samrong Nua police station, said the incident occurred at about 8pm in Soi Dam Samrong 42 in tambon Samrong Nua. Jakrin Hemhong, 26, the driver of the pick-up truck which was modified to be a container, said the incident took place while he was driving the vehicle into the soi to visit a relative. He decided to back up his pick-up truck. When he alighted, he would that the pick-up truck had run over a woman, who was identified as Samniang Ruenrom, 79, who lived in Moo 3 village in tambon Samrong Nua.
